- Symptoms or behaviors are significant, with distress being disproportionate to the stressor and/or experiencing significant impairment in functioning in social settings, work, or other such areas.
- The stressors are not related to another mental health disorder or pre-existing mental health disorder.
- The symptoms are not related to bereavement.
- Once the stressor is eliminated, the symptoms do not persist for more than six months.
