How to Pay for Mental Health Treatment With Aetna Insurance

When realizing that therapy may be needed for a mental disorder, the first thing people often think about is how they are going to be able to pay for the treatment needed to start their road to recovery. Finding an Aetna psychiatrist, therapist or inpatient treatment provider can feel overwhelming, especially when going through a mental health crisis.

Our staff here at Montare Behavioral Health is here to help you discover the different insurance options that will be available to you once you decide on the type of treatment necessary. If you have any questions about your Aetna insurance coverage at our behavioral health center here in Los Angeles, call us at (855) 782-5553.

There are two different ways individuals can pay for treatment. The first option is always paying out of pocket.  By paying from your income or having a loved one pay from their income, you will not have to rely on outside sources like insurance companies to supply the funds for your treatment. This type of payment poses the least amount of chances of being denied treatment based on the cost.

The second option is going through your insurance policy to figuring out what costs are covered by your company. By working with your insurance provider to help cover the cost of treatment, could help you receive the type of treatment you need and allow you to stay in our facility for as long as needed to fully recover from your mental disorder.

Who We Are Able to Help at Our Mental Health Facilities

We accept patients based on their personal needs and how well we believe our facilities can help them achieve their goal of mental disorder recovery. In addition, we require all of our potential patients to be 18 years of age or older, so they can call the shots on all of their treatment plans.

We do not accept anyone who has a history of violent behavior, a significant cognitive impairment such as Alzheimer’s Disease, any conditions that require 24 hours a day medical assistance, or anyone that has displayed recent homicidal or suicidal behaviors.

Our staff prides themselves on being mental disorder experts. Because of this, we are only able to accept individuals with a history of mental illness, if it is determined that their mental disorder is the primary disorder. We can treat both in our dual diagnosis program, but we have a strong focus at Montare on mental health recovery.

Potential patients will be evaluated by our staff at Montare, and they will determine if the patient is the right fit for our programs. If a potential patient is accepted, we will then discuss payment plans and treatment options to move forward with the process.

Aetna Insurance Information

Aetna was founded in 1850 to provide life insurance to individuals in the New England region of the United States. Over the past almost 170 years of the company’s existence, they have helped countless individuals with their policies. They currently have over 22 million individuals, 1.2 million healthcare providers, almost 700,000 doctors and specialists, and over 5,000 hospitals within their network.

With over 50,000 employees, they pride themselves in helping to diversify the workplace. 64% of their management positions are made of women, and they are constantly trying to increase minority, women-run and LGTQ owned business relationships. They believe in equal opportunity no matter your race, sexual orientation, or gender.

The company believes in having integrity in all that they do, providing excellent service to its customers, inspiring others to do their best, and caring about the personal wants and needs of their policyholders. They also hold a simplistic ideal for their process, so that individuals can see everything that goes on and understand why certain policies are the way that they are.

Other Health Benefits of Aetna

Although helping to cover the cost of treatment is important, we also encourage our patients to go with an insurance provider that offers other benefits once treatment is completed. Aetna has a large online presence that allows you to browse the health discounts they offer if you choose to go with one of their policies. On their website, you can complete a health assessment, and they will provide you with a personalized plan to develop better eating and activity habits. There are even online coaching sessions available to you after you’ve completed the assessment.

By using their website, you can save on gym memberships, health coaches, and nutritional products. Some of these can include massage therapies, acupuncture, chiropractic visits, and even nutritionist services. Their policies also allow you to receive discounts on eye and hearing services and products.

Difference Between Using an In-Network and an Out-of-Network Insurance Policy

There are two different types of insurance companies you can use when going through the process of paying for mental health treatment: in-network and out-of-network. An in-network company is one that has worked with a certain facility to offer extra discounts or complete coverage for the services and treatment provided within that center. If you choose to go with an out-of-network provider to help cover the cost of treatment, you are more likely to pay more because the insurance company does not have a relationship with the facility you are trying to be admitted into.

Currently, Montare Health does not have any in-network providers that we have partnered with. Because of this, you will have to contact your Aetna representative to get a better understanding of what the cost of treatments at our facilities will be for you. You still can have the majority if not the entire cost of treatment covered by your Aetna policy.

Reviewing Your Aetna Insurance Policy for Inpatient Mental Health Treatment

Insurance is more affordable than ever, and your insurance policy can help you decide whether or not treatment is a viable option for your mental health disorder. Our staff here at Montare can work with your Aetna representative to determine what level of coverage you will be able to receive from your policy. At Montare Health, an independent review of your Aetna coverage will determine:

  • Which mental health programs you will be eligible for
  • How long you can attend the program (30, 60, 90 days, etc.)
  • Which level of care will be covered (inpatient or outpatient)

Once we review your Aetna policy, we will be able to help you pay the least amount of money from your pocket for your treatment. We know how important receiving every ounce of financial help is when looking to be accepted into our facility.

Aetna Insurance Coverage for Residential Mental Health Treatment

When it comes to your insurance coverage, the Aetna plan you choose will ultimately determine how much out-of-pocket money you will pay for mental health treatment costs. The cost will vary depending on what type of treatments you require, the recommended length of stay at our treatment center, and any medication you may be recommended to take during and after your treatment.

Aetna’s coverage plans are based on an 80/60 standpoint. For in-network providers, Aetna plans cover 80% of the total cost of treatments and hospital/facility stays. For out-of-network providers, this percentage will drop to a 60% coverage plan. Because our facilities at Montare do not have any in-network providers, you will ultimately have to pay 40% of the cost of your stay at one of our facilities.

Our staff at Montare encourages you to consider this while looking into your possible options. With the help of your Aetna policy covering 60% of the cost, we will do everything in our power to ensure the out-of-pocket cost is something you can afford.

Aetna Insurance Inpatient and Outpatient Treatment Coverage

There are two different types of mental health treatment. The most notable is inpatient treatment where the patient is required to stay at the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the recovery process. The other is an outpatient treatment where an individual is still immersed in daily life, like attending school or work, while attending treatments.

Whether you have been admitted into one of our inpatient or outpatient treatments, your Aetna policy will cover 60% of the total cost. Inpatient will ultimately be more expensive because you will stay within our facilities to receive treatment but having the help of your insurance plan will lower the cost tremendously.
