Paying for Mental Health Treatment with Health Net Insurance

In the past, when someone needed to go see a primary care doctor, their insurance provider may have paid 80% of their treatment costs to do so, but only 50% if they saw a psychologist. However, this changed in 2010 due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Changes in laws mandated that under the ACA, private insurance plans who provide coverage for mental health treatment services also have to do so for physical health services. In other words, if your health insurance plan is out-of-network, whether you are experiencing a physical or mental health problem, they have to be equally paid for, whether that is in partial or full.

For example, for each, the benefits of the plans have to have equal limits, such as:

  • Frequency of treatment
  • How many days you can stay in the hospital
  • Out-of-pocket costs: (Total amount you have to pay for treatment)
  • Co-pays: (A fixed amount of money paid for your treatment services)
  • Co-insurance: (Your share of payment for treatment services)
  • Deductibles: (Amount you have to spend before your insurance company start to pay on your behalf)

Montare BH Partners With Health Net Insurance

The truth is, one of the most common reasons why people delay or don’t end up seeking or receiving treatment for their mental disorders, is because of financial stress. Medical treatment is known to be very expensive, and therefore, the first thing people usually worry about is how they are going to pay for treatment.

That’s why Montare believes in partnering with Health Net insurance to help people with mental illness have accessibility to the health care resources that they need to properly manage their condition and recover.

We Help Make Sure People Get the Treatment They Need

With our caring staff at Montare Behavioral Health behind you, we help individuals with mental illness, navigate what insurance options and benefits are available to best treat their needs. There are two options available for payment. They are as follows:

Pay out-of-pocket

Paying out-of-pocket means the total cost amount someone will pay for their mental health treatment. This payment option takes away some stress of being denied treatment, but sometimes if funds are not there, this option may not be feasible. But, good news, there are always alternative options available.

Insurance Companies

The second option for payment is through your insurance company. We can help look at your insurance policy or you can call the company itself for clarification on what plan may be best for you and the benefits you will receive. Your insurance plan does have to cover part or all mental health treatment costs depending on what you have. Therefore, the focus will be on getting treatment and help to better your mental health and eliminate financial stress.

Mental Health Treatment Coverage

The Affordable Care Act requires mental health services to be included by all individual and small employer plans. Most importantly, it is illegal for insurance companies to deny someone coverage for having pre-existing conditions, such as mental illness. If you have a mental disorder, your insurance company has to pay all or partial costs for treatment services provided depending on your plan no matter what.

Ou mental health specialists pride themselves on trying to make sure that comes to us receive the help that they need. The demand for treatment continues to be extremely high, and therefore, we do our best to bridge the gap between needing treatment and actually receiving it.  For this reason, we only accept individuals with substance abuse issues if a mental disorder is their primary disorder. We offer a dual-diagnosis program, but the main focus is on mental health recovery.

At Montare Behavioral Health, our main focus is on mental disorder treatment for people suffering from conditions such as:

Admission Process Into Our Treatment Center

Intake Process

Before being admitted into one of our mental health treatment programs (inpatient and/or outpatient) here at Montare BH, individuals will undergo the intake process. This is where you will meet with a member of our staff, so we can learn more about you and your health history, and you can also learn about us, our facility, and how we can help you manage your condition.

This meeting allows people to ask questions as well as us to understand if they will benefit from our services. Also, the information gathered during this meeting will be reviewed by our medical team and the admissions team to ensure that they meet all our criteria.

Patients are accepted based on certain criteria, such as age and most importantly, each individual is unique and so are their needs. Therefore, our facility’s ability to give the best form of treatment to meet those needs is the basis for approval.

We require that all individuals that enter our treatment center be at least 18 years old, which will allow them to have complete control over their recovery journey. Once a person is accepted into our mental health treatment facility, then payment plans and available treatment options will be discussed.

Review Your Policy

Once the decision is made that admission into our treatment facility is right for you, we will help review your insurance policy to see what is covered. This is vital, as it will determine how much of your treatment will be paid off.

Our dedicated staff will work with your Health Net representative to get all the benefits you are eligible for in your insurance policy.

At Montare Behavioral Health, a review of your policy will determine:

  • The programs you are eligible for
  • The length of time you are covered for (30,60,90 days)
  • Type of care covered (inpatient or outpatient)

We at Montare, understand the importance of financial freedom, which means, saving money without sacrificing treatment options, and striving to help you pay the least money out-of-pocket as possible.

Process of Insurance Authorization

After your initial evaluation and intake process, the insurance authorization process will begin. Our admissions staff here at Montare sends the results of the assessment to Health Net to show proof of the services needed.

The insurance company will then usually give approval or denial of services quickly. However, in some cases, the insurance company may need more information from mental health specialists before a decision is determined. If your insurance company denies an inpatient treatment facility, they may approve therapy in an outpatient capacity.

It’s important to note, that even if you have been accepted into our treatment facility, treatment can not begin until the insurance company has given approval or payment has been made in full.

Typically, the treatment approval period for insurance providers is 5-7 days. Treatment can be denied at any point between these intervals if the insurance company finds that the criteria for treatment were are not met.
